Selfie #1

by Chelsea Carter

I stand before it.

My head, decapitated.

My father’s shirt, loose,

khaki, crumpled, comfortable.

Swathing my body, protecting

it’s shape, hiding

a girl, projecting

a man. My legs, slug like,

bare and white. Slithering

and uprooted.
